Ground is what supports a statement, assessment, model, or action. A ground may be ontological, documentary, methodological, or legal, but its type must be stated and must not be confused with the conclusion built upon it.

Methodological relevance

An audit must distinguish the stated basis, the material actually available, and what is inferred from that material.
